PRADO is the older maternal brother to POGROM, a US Triple Crown Winner as Scottsdale Supreme Champion, Arabian Breeders World Cup Champion & US National Champion Stallion. On home soil being named Junior Spring Show Gold Champion & Best in Show, Polish National Gold Champion Stallion as both junior and senior. In 2023 he was awarded the WAHO Trophy for an outstanding individual of the Arabian breed for successes achieved by his daughters as broodmares at stud.

The brother’s dam, PĘTLA, a WAHO Trophy honoree, is remembered as Janów Podlaski’s leading producer of extremely valuable breeding horses, including several (!) chief sires – apart from POGROM and PRADO she has produced the capable athletes PENTAGRAM, POLIGON & PEDAGOG, which been utilized in sports-oriented breeding.

Interestingly, PĘTLA is a granddaughter of PESTKA, a descendant of Janów’s P-line of PIEWICA, who established her own subline famed for producing chief sires. In recent years as many as nine from this branch were active in Polish breeding (apart from those mentioned above this lot includes PITAWAL, POGANIN, PERSEUSZ, PEGASUS).

PRADO is sired by the immortal EKSTERN, a horse undefeated in all his nine showings. A European Triple Crown winner and WAHO Trophy honoree, EKSTERN has become famous as a sire of extraordinary daughters and in later years – exquisite dams. His most decorated daughters include PEPITA, PALANGA, CENOZA, SEFORA, PSYCHE KREUZA, PSYCHE VICTORIA, PROTEKCJA,EKSTERNA, WILGA, EKINA, WIEŻA RÓŻ, POTENTILLA, LAWINIA, PINTA and ALTAMIRA. Whereas among his daughters that turned into champion-producing broodmares we find the likes of: EKLIPTYKA (dam of EQUATOR), WIEŻA MARZEŃ (dam WIEŻA MOCY), MESALINA (dam of MORION), PUSTYNNA MALWA (dam of PUSTYNIA KAHILA), ERIGONE (dam of EFORA KL) and CALATEA (dam of CALATORIO and CALATEON).

PRADO belongs to the group of Pure Polish stallions (descending from a sire and dam line considered to be historically Polish).
